Takashi Murakami Puts His Flowers on Sake

takashi-murakami-sake-sundays-groceryTakashi Murakami is more than just an artist; he's an innovator, an entrepreneur, and a key influencer in Japanese culture. That being said, it's no surprise that Murakami has expanded his portfolio to develop his own range of sake in collaboration with NEXT5.NEXT5 represents 5 sake makers from the Akita prefecture. They've produced a special sake together almost every year since teaming up in 2010 and have employed the traditional Kimoto brewing technique to create this year's selection with Murakami. As Murakami says, "The NEXT5 are going back to question the very nature of what sake is when they create sake. If we go far back enough into the history of sake, we find culture coming from China. We want to grasp this thread and weave it into a fresh form."Murakami created four limited edition bottles - one glass bottle and three ceramic bottles - to package the sake and each design features his signature anime-style flowers. This sake is released in a limited quantity, so don’t miss your chance to grab a bottle. Love sake? Learn more about it from our Beverage Director Elliot Faber here. Source: Kaikaikiki
